WHAT: University of Missouri System President Tim Wolfe will visit Jackson and Cape Girardeau as a continuation of his Show Me Value tour, which focuses on communicating the value of higher education to all Missourians. The president’s Show Me Value tour was created earlier this year in response to growing national sentiment that the value of a college degree is declining and that youth should be encouraged to find alternatives to obtaining a four-year college degree.
President Wolfe will discuss both the personal and societal benefits of obtaining a college degree to junior high school students in Jackson, and will also visit with a Cape Girardeau-area business to discuss workforce needs and ways the university can help prepare students for the workforce.
WHEN/WHERE: Wednesday, Oct. 30
8:45-9:45 a.m. Russell Hawkins Junior High School
210 Northwest Lane
Jackson, MO 63755
News media that would like to attend the school event are asked to please notify Chief Communications Officer John Fougere at the contact information above no later than noon Tuesday, October 29. President Wolfe will be available following the event at Russell Hawkins Junior High School for interviews and to answer questions.
