Three candidates for the University of Missouri presidency were interviewed Wednesday by the UM Presidential Search Advisory Committee during its meeting in St. Louis.

The committee, drawn from a broad spectrum of University stakeholders, is gathering its impressions and comments about the candidates, based upon the interviews in closed sessions. Those impressions and comments are being relayed to the UM Presidential Search Committee, which is comprised of the nine-member Board of Curators and the Student Representative to the Board.

"The Advisory Committee appreciated the opportunity to visit cordially, candidly and at length with these candidates for president," said Dr. Frank Schmidt of the University of Missouri-Columbia, who is chairing the Advisory Committee. "It's important for the representatives of so many University stakeholders to have a chance to explore the expertise, backgrounds and philosophies of persons being considered to lead our great institution."

The Presidential Search Committee plans to meet by conference call this Friday afternoon. No public comments are planned by the Search Committee prior to that meeting. Friday's meeting will begin with an open session at 12:30 p.m., with the Search Committee moving into closed session soon afterward.

Dr. Gordon H. Lamb is serving as Interim President of the University. Dr. Lamb is not a candidate for the permanent presidency.
