Feb. 15, 2009, is the deadline to apply for University of Missouri scholarships created as part of the legal settlement of a class action lawsuit regarding past educational fees charged by the institution. Applications, which must be submitted online, are for scholarships covering the academic period of summer 2009, fall 2009 and spring 2010.
The scholarships are available to qualifying students, their spouses and children attending any of the four campuses of the University of Missouri. Qualifying students attended one of the four campuses of the University of Missouri as resident undergraduates between January 1995 and August 2001 and were "between the ages of 16 and 21."
For 2009, scholarships awarded will be in the amount of $550, but shall not exceed the amount of educational fees or tuition charged by the University to the eligible recipient during the semester for which the scholarship is applied. The scholarships are in the form of a credit against current educational fees and/or tuition. Unused individual scholarship awards may not be carried over to another semester by the recipient.
