WHAT: Leadership from the University of Missouri System and South Africa’s University of the Western Cape (UWC) will kick off a week of events commemorating the 30th anniversary of the partnership between the two institutions with a ceremony on Tuesday, September 27.
The historic partnership, created in 1986 to advance capacity in teaching, research and service between the UM System and UWC, was the first-ever academic cooperation agreement between a U.S. university and a non-white South African university.
WHO: UM System President Michael Middleton, UWC Rector Tyrone Pretorius and students from UM System campuses who have benefitted from the partnership will be available for media interviews before the program begins.
