JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Each year, the University of Missouri Alliance of Alumni Associations and Extension awards the Presidential Citation Award for outstanding and continuing service to the University of Missouri and its four campuses. The honorees were recognized today during the 2015 University of Missouri Legislative Day Rally at the State Capitol in Jefferson City.
The Alumni Alliance selects one individual from each of the four campuses and Extension, and the University of Missouri System president may also select recipients on behalf of the system. Honorees include:
Ron Wood – Outstanding Service to the University of Missouri
Ron Wood is an active member of the MU College of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council, a Mizzou Advocate, Jefferson Club Ambassador, Chancellor Society Fellow, Shamrock Society Fellow and a Life Member of the Mizzou Alumni Association. In each of these roles, Wood serves with passion and commitment for higher education policy.
Troy Schulte – Outstanding Service to the University of Missouri – Kansas City
As city manager for Kansas City, Missouri, Troy Schulte consistently looks for ways to strengthen the university and its role in the fabric of the community. He is present and involved at university events and projects, from speaking to students at commencement to advocating for UMKC’s priorities locally.
Susan H. Rothschild – Outstanding Service to the Missouri University of Science and Technology
Susan Rothschild began serving on the Miner Alumni Association Board of Directors in 1998, and was president from 2010-2012. She has been a consistent advocate at Legislative Day as a member of the Alumni Alliance since 2007. Among her many volunteer roles, Rothschild serves as a Chancellor’s Leadership Academy Speaker, on the Dean’s Advisory Council, and as a Computer Science Academy Member and Class Coordinator.
Hubert Hoosman – Outstanding Service to the University of Missouri – St. Louis
Hubert Hoosman has a long history of involvement in the University of Missouri – St. Louis, including serving terms as president of the African-American chapter and the Alumni Association Governing Board, and as a member of the Alumni Alliance. As a Chancellor’s Council member, Hoosman led a successful campaign to establish a memorial plaza in honor of former UMSL Chancellor Marguerite Ross Barnett.
Ronda Elfrink – Outstanding Service to the University of Missouri Extension
Ronda Elfrink is a role model for leadership in the area of civic responsibility and has given countless hours in support of University of Missouri Extension. As the elected assessor in Bollinger County, Elfrink has been a proponent for Extension in southeast Missouri. As a volunteer, she serves on the county extension council in Bollinger County, as secretary of the University of Missouri Extension State Council, and is past chair of the Alumni Alliance.
The Alliance is composed of representatives from each campus and University of Missouri Extension. The Alliance serves as a supportive and unified voice for the UM System in legislative advocacy, and facilitates the interchange of ideas and information between the UM System and the campus alumni associations and extension.
The four-campus University of Missouri System is one of the nation’s largest public research university systems with more than 77,000 students and a half million alumni worldwide.
