The application deadline for the University of Missouri Tuition Settlement Scholarships is Feb. 15, 2010. These scholarships were created as part of the legal settlement of a class action lawsuit regarding past educational fees charged by the institution.
Applications, which must be submitted online, are for scholarships covering the periods of summer 2010, fall 2010 and spring 2011.
The scholarships are available to qualifying students, their spouses and children attending any of the four campuses of the University of Missouri System.
A qualifying student is defined as a student who attended one of the four University of Missouri campuses as a resident undergraduate between spring semester 1995 and through fall semester 2001. Students must have been at least 16 years of age but under age 22 on the first day of class in at least one semester during this time period.
For 2010-2011, scholarships awarded will be a maximum of $550, but shall not exceed the amount of educational fees or tuition charged by the university to the eligible recipient during the semester for which the scholarship is applied. These scholarships are in the form of a credit against current educational fees and/or tuition. Unused portions of individual scholarship awards may not be carried over to another semester by the recipient.
