Budget
On Tuesday the House Subcommittee in Appropriations for Education met for markup. Chairman Rusty Black proposed an amendment to move the proposed $3 million to the Precision Medicine line item into the University of Missouri’s core appropriations budget. The amendment was passed unanimously.
The changes now go in front of the entire budget committee for discussion and passage.
Legislative
On Monday the House General Laws Committee heard two bills commonly referred to as, “Name Imaging and Likeness” bills. Both bills were heard together, HB 1564, sponsored by Rep. Nick Schroer, and HB 1792 sponsored by Rep. Wes Rogers.
Tuesday, Feb. 25th was the 150th anniversary of Missouri S&T and they celebrated with a proclamation given by the Governor and several resolutions from both the Senate and House of Representatives.
Wednesday morning, the Senate Gubernatorial Committee met to hear from Board of Curator appointees, Robin Wenneker and Greg Hoberock. Both appointees were confirmed Thursday morning.
On Wednesday afternoon, the House Government Oversight Committee heard HB 2284, sponsored by Rep. Cody Smith, and HB 2318, sponsored by Rep. Phil Christofanelli. Both bills lay out different plans to legalize sports gambling in Missouri. Someone from MU athletics was available to testify on behalf of the University for informational purposes.
